George Papadopoulos received the Master's and Ph.D. degrees at M.I.T., in 1964 and 1970 respectively, all in Electrical Engineering. In 1963, got the Bachelor’s degree in EE from CUNY, City of New York. Was Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Patras and Director of the Applied Electronics Laboratory (1974-2007), and since 2007 Professor Emeritus. Was Director of the Industrial Systems Institute (1998-2003) and Chairman of the Scientific Board of the National Research Center DEMOKRITOS (1997-2001), both under the auspices of the Ministry of Development. Was Visiting Professor in the ECE Department of the University of MASS in Amherst (1984-1985). Worked for five years (1970-75) in the US as Faculty and research in academic institutions and/or consultant in companies. Served as Chairman of the ECE Department at UPatras and Head of the Electronics and Computers Division. Recent research interests cover electronics, microprocessors, wireless and networked embedded systems, wireless sensor networks, Internet of Things and mixed-analog and RF microelectronics. Has participated as coordinator and partner in many funded EU and National projects. Has collaborated with Greek Industries and Public Organizations through direct contracts. Has supervised 26 Ph.D. dissertations and over 200 Master’s level theses. Has authored/co-authored three books used in the undergraduate level of the Department. Has published over 250 papers in International Journals and Conferences and has over 500 cross-citations.
