KCST Library and Learning Resource Center is partner in educational mission of the College to develop and support information-literate learners who can discover, access and use information effectively for academic issues, research and life-long learning. Library enable users to discover information in all formats through effective use of technology and organization of knowledge.
Entitlements of Library Members
§ Circulation Service: Our circulation service provides issue/return/renewal/ reservation services for students to ensure they make the most of the library resources.
§ On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC): OPAC is one of module of the integrated automation system used by the Library. Library online public access catalog allows users to check availability status of library resources, including books and journals and provides them with personal accounts where they can overview the items they have checked out and the overdue items.
§ Library Web Site and Subject Gateway: The Library web site as integrated interface to all library services and as gateway to other e-resources.
§ Access to e-resources: A subscription-based service both within the campus as well as off campus.
§ Computer Section (1st floor): Our well-equipped computer area provides students with access to all online resources subscribed by the Library. The Library is equipped with computers that are freely accessible for the users to access all subscribed online resources
§ Book Section: Contains printed books, in all subject areas offered by the College, with a focus on field of mathematics, engineering and technology, as well as the Reference collection
§ Inter-Library Loans (ILL) / Document delivery: These services are provided with cooperation of other libraries in Kuwait and abroad. Commercial vendors may also be engaged for electronic document delivery services.
§ Reference Service: A service provided using print as well as web-based electronic resources.
§ Bibliographic / Full-text Database Search: The Library provides access to relevant bibliographic and full-text databases from commercial publishers, open access resources, learned scholarly societies and university presses.
§ Library Members may recommend purchase of books and other documents and resources in the Library through their respective Academic Advisors. Before making the request to purchase books, journals, databases, and audiovisual materials for its collection, users supposed to search the Library online Catalog to make sure that the item is not already available in the Library collection. If the item is not available, they can submit the appropriate purchase request form Academic Advisor. All purchase suggestions will be reviewed by the Head of Library in light of the Collection Development Policy and availability of funds. Users will be notified by e-mail on the decision and also when requested items are available for check-out.
§ User Orientation Programs: A service provided for familiarization of users and optimization of their information-seeking capabilities.
§ Reading rooms: Interactive area (1st floor) Individual area (2nd floor)
Interactive zone makes provisions for specially-abled learners. Library Members are entitled to use physical and computing infrastructure available in the Library, and to book discussion Rooms and Conference facilities in advance. A total of 4 group study/discussion rooms can be used by min. 3 and max. 10 students.
Terms and Conditions of Library Use
§ Membership Card is required when making use of the Library facility
§ All library resources must be borrowed before leaving the Library
§ Users are held responsible for checked-out materials until they are returned to the Library
§ Users must not abuse borrowing privileges by lending membership card or borrowed items to others
§ Personal book(s) may be allowed inside the Library once permission is obtained from the Head of Library.
§ The Library can recall any issued book even before the due date in case of urgency.
§ The Library computers are for users conducting course-related searches using databases subscribed by the Library or available through the Internet. Use of a computer is limited to 60 minutes when others are waiting
§ It is prohibited to downloading programs, games or movies as well as attempting to make changes to computer settings or installing software
§ Using mobile phone in Individual area premises is prohibited.
§ Smoking, eating and drinking in the Library is not allowed.
§ Membership privileges can be suspended on account of misbehavior involving Library staff or other Library Users.
 Faculty: Full-time and part-time faculty members; Staff: Administrative and academic support staff; Students: Students who are currently enrolled in KCST
