KCST Celebrated the graduation of 308 students Class of 2024

At the third Graduation Ceremony held on December 6th, 2023, at Waldorf Astoria Hotel, attendees included Mr. Adel AlBader, Acting Secretary for Private Universities Council, Her Excellency Nabeela Al Mulla, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, KCST Board members, dignitaries, ambassadors, proud parents, and graduating students. Ms. Ruba Mohamed Najia, Head of the Languages Department, served as the Master of Ceremonies, guiding the proceedings from start to finish.

University of Miami visit College of Engineering Delegates

In October, KCST was delighted to host esteemed delegates from the University of Miami's College of Engineering. The delegation, led by Dr. Pratim Biswas, Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Qingda Yang, Chair of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, and Mr. Jan Macko, Director of Admission, was welcomed by the President and a team of KCST staff who took them on a tour of the campus, exploring key facilities and laboratories.

KCST welcomed Mr. Carlos Velasco, Ambassador of Peru, who visited the KCST campus on October 29, 2023, and explored the advanced laboratories, including the Cybersecurity Centre, the Centre of AI, Robotics, and the FabLab.

Spanish Delegation Visit

KCST hosted the Spanish delegation on November 7, 2023. The delegation met with the President, the Dean of Faculty, and the Dean of Student Affairs. The delegation explored KCST’s Cybersecurity Center, FabLab, and the Centre of AI and Robotics during their visit to the College of Engineering.

In November, KCST hosted The Science Innovation Network Delegation. During their visit, the delegates had meetings with the President, the Dean of Faculty, and a group of researchers to discuss their respective institutions' profiles. Additionally, they had the opportunity to explore KCST's Cybersecurity Center, laboratories, and other advanced facilities.

CERC23 (October 2023)

In its fifth edition, KCST co-organized the annual Cybersecurity Education and Research Conference (CERC) that was hosted this year by the Engineering and Petroleum College at Kuwait University. CERC is a joint venture organized by the UK Government in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), the British Embassy in Kuwait, the Kuwait College of Science & Technology (KCST), Kuwait University (KU), and The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). The conference is an annual incorporate government-to-government engagement, along with participation from the industry and research sectors. This year’s theme was Digital Trust & Safety.

IEEE Fintech and Blockchain Summit

Under the patronage of the Kuwait Banking Association (KBA), the Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) organized and hosted the 1st Kuwait Fintech and Blockchain Summit in 2023. The event was organized by Dr. Ismaeel Al Ridhawi, Associate Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department. The summit aimed to promote the benefits and technical progress of blockchain technology within various academic, governmental, financial, and industrial sectors regionally and globally. The summit contributed to different regional government visions, including Kuwait Vision 2035, to share cutting-edge discoveries, findings, and insights on blockchain technology and its prospect to revolutionize various sectors including education, healthcare, finance and banking, and governmental services.

Certified in Cybersecurity from EC-Council

According to the collaboration between KCST and the EC-COUNCIL organization that provides the cybersecurity workshops and certifications, the KCST students and alumni who registered in the EC-COUNCIL Certified Incident Handler and the Certified SOC Analyst workshops, passed the exams of both workshops, and obtained the certification with a validity of 3 years.

In a special event held at the Kuwait Technical College campus, attended by the Deans of the College of Engineering and Student Affairs, and the Director of the Public Relations Department, the Kuwait College of Science and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kuwait Technical College.

After a year of collaborations between KCST, the U.S. Embassy, and the SOLIYA Team in the U.S.A., KCST and the other two parties signed an MOU where KCST officially becomes the strategic partner in developing the SOLIYA Global Communication Program and recruiting participants from the public and private universities in Kuwait.

Starting from October 2023, individuals, including students from KCST and adults residing in the vicinity who are eager to pursue English language studies, will have the opportunity to enroll in British Council English courses offered at the Kuwait College of Science and Technology. Young Learner (YL) classes are scheduled to begin in January 2024.

KCST was proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with KFH. These agreements are in line with KCST's milestones and will facilitate future collaborations, advancing our ultimate educational goal of better serving the community in Kuwait.

Workshops & Programs

U.S. Embassy - Cybersecurity Awareness Workshops

In collaboration with KCST, the U.S. Embassy organized the Cybersecurity Awareness Workshops that targeted the ministries’ employees and public attendees for two days to raise awareness of cybersecurity crimes, providing the tools and skills that employees need in particular to protect the government system from different attacks.

Soliya Program in two series for the Fall Semester

In collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait & Stevens Initiative Organization, Soliya Connect Program was performed in Kuwait for the third time through KCST, to bring together college-aged youth in the United States and in the Middle East and North Africa for online dialogue to discuss global and social issues in the presence of trained facilitators, engaging in both synchronous (live) and asynchronous exchange.

Artificial Intelligence Challenge, Development, and Innovation

The Centre of AI and Robotics in KCST (CAIR) has participated in Kuwait University's AI exhibition, which took place over two days December 5th and 6th, 2023. Dr. Mohammad Naji, Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department and the Head of CAIR collected the FYP projects, along with the academic projects to participate in the expo.

Partnership between KCST and Bentley University

Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) partnered with Bentley University to provide a new Executive Education program for Kuwaiti business leaders. The program, offered through KCST’s Centre of Innovation and Continuing Education and Training, CCICET was designed to equip mid-career professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to lead and succeed in an ever-evolving global marketplace.
